A legend is an area of the genogram document where common symbols are defined.
You create the legend the same way you create any other part of the genogram document.
For example, you might start by creating a label
containing the word "Legend."
Below the legend title, you might create some unconnected symbols,
along with additional labels explaining what they mean.

Some symbols, such as Relationships,
can appear only alongside figures.
You may satisfy this technical requirement by creating the figures,
but making them shapeless, or invisible,
so they do not actually appear in the document.
You can use the Edit Menu command Align in a Column, to arrange legend elements neatly,
even if they are shapeless.
