A family is a horizonal line joining two partners, along with their children (if any).

The color and thickness of a family line can be specified from the Pen Menu.

The pattern of the line can be specified from the Property Pad. A solid line represents marriage. A dotted line represents partners living together, having an affair, or engaged.

Family lines are generally created when a partner, parent or child is added to an existing figure or family, using the Figure Tool. However, family lines can also be appended to preexisting figures. This alternative approach required when the two figures to be joined are already related in some other way. More....
